B&B'S in Almere
When you visit a unique place like Almere (affectionately called Ally), a bit of adventure and an exceptional place to sleep is all part of the game. How about overnight in one of the most ‘sustainable’ districts in the Netherlands? Or perhaps sleep at the top of a tower, or see how it would be to be a local in Almere. You can find all the best B&Bs in Almere, on this page.
Environmentally friendly B&Bs
The outskirts of Almere have all the hotspots for environmentally friendly living: Oosterwold. This whole district is full of environmentally friendly homes and it creates its own solar power and has its own water purification plant. You too could be part of this inspiring community, during your city trip to Almere. Sleep in one of the hip lodges in the middle of the vinyard that belongs to Bed & Breakfast 'Life Contains Beautiful Things’. Or how about the B&B Amsterdam Area Residence where you will stay on the ground floor of a viticulturist’s home (that’s wine expert to you and me). He’d be happy to bring you a good bottle of wine for in the jacuzzi. Perhaps you’d prefer the whole place to yourself anda jacuzzi? You could try B&B Eemhouses. Whichever spot you choose to lay your weary head: you have to at least visit Oosterwold.
With a garden
Do you like to be outdoors? Then of course you need to find a B&B with a garden. All the houses in Oosterwold have gardens, but there’s more to choose from too. All the hens are clucking around the garden at B&B Welconny. Even if it rains you can sit out and keep dry for drinks in the garden. Getting a bit chilly out there? Just move closer to the woodburner in the living room.
On the edge of the Gooimeer there’s another cosy little cabin with a garden. B&B Het Blauwe Tuinhuis (The Blue Garden Hut) is all in wood and just breathes ‘Scandinavia’. Step out of the open doors from the living room onto the garden terrace - see the garden from your bed.
Colourful B&Bs
‘Ally’ is pretty famous for all the colourful and original urban design. What could be more fun than spending the night of your city trip in one of those exceptional buildings? What would you say, for instance, to the strikingly purple Milka House? This spacious apartment, close to the Markermeer and the Spoonbill Lakes (Lepelaarplassen) has a sunny terrace.
Purple not really your colour? Then how about the bright orange B&B Casa Mirador? The bits of blue might make it more palatable? Hire a bike and go out into the surrounding countryside or just enjoy the lovely vistas across the landscape from the sunny roof terrace.
Just to trigger that FOMO feeling some more: there’s yet another great option. B&B Het Kasteel (The Castle) is situated in the Homeruskwartier (Almere Poort) where all the houses were disigned by the inhabitants personally. Enter this red edifice via the elegant castle door and enjoy the ideal base for a cultural trip to Almere.
Bed & Breakfasts up high
Always wanted to sleep in a tower room? The Zeiltoren and The Seintoren B&Bs are just what the doctor ordered. The Zeiltoren is surrounded with greenery, it’s walls are baby-blue and you’ll have a view of indigo-blue skies from your bed. The Seintoren is more luxuriously appointed and from your bed and the circling balcony at the top of the tower, you’ll look out over the Gooimeer.
Overnight in Almere Haven
Spend the night in a five storey building on the Kerkgracht in Almere Haven - B&B Haddock. Tour Almere from the water - Haddock Watersport is only 10 minutes walk from their B&B. Great for a family weekend away or just a trip with a friend.
Spend the night with locals
Fancy experiencing how it feels to live as a local in Ally? Want to be one of Ally’s tribe? Book yourself in for a night in a bed and breakfast at an Ally local. How about a night at Milly en René’s in the Literatuurwijk, or with Caroline in the Waterwijk? You could totally interrogate them about their favourite ‘hidden gems’ in the city for a really different experience.
