Beatrixpark
Almere’s special charm is the way the city is intertwined with nature in the city. Every borough is surrounded by greenery, with wedges of green space that penetrate the city. The preservation of this greenery is stimulated by combining it with leisure functions. Beatrixpark, a park in the middle of Almere, underwent a large scale refurbishment in the period 1997-2003. It gained a fully functional American diner dating from 1939. In combination with the wooden house built alongside it, the diner has become a major attraction for park visitors.
